Directions

Neurontin comes as a capsule to take by mouth. Neurontin is taken three times a day. To minimize Neurontin side effects, take the very first Neurontin dose at bedtime. Then take this Neurontin medication at evenly spaced times throughout the day and night to ensure a constant level of Neurontin in your body. Follow the Neurontin directions on your Neurontin prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or Neurontin pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Neurontin exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of Neurontin or take Neurontin more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Storage

STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.

Miss a dose

Take the missed Neurontin dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next Neurontin dose, skip the missed Neurontin dose and continue your regular Neurontin dosing schedule. Do not take a double Neurontin dose to make up for a missed one.

Precautions

Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had kidney disease.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Neurontin, call your doctor.

Side effects

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible: difficulty breathing; fever; hallucinations; increased sensitivity to the sun or ultraviolet light; irregular heartbeat, palpitations or chest pain; joint, muscle or tendon pain; nervousness, excitability, restlessness; reduced amount of urine; severe or watery diarrhea; skin rash, itching; seizures (convulsions); swelling of the face or neck; vomiting.
