Diovan
(Generic Name: Diovan / Valsartan)
Uses
Diovan helps lower blood pressure to normal levels. It controls high blood
pressure, but it is not a cure. High blood pressure can damage your kidneys, and
may lead to a stroke or heart failure. Diovan helps prevent these things from
happening.
Directions
Take this medicine exactly as directed. This medicine is taken by mouth and
usually once per day. Diovan can be taken with or without food and should be
taken about the same time every day.
Storage
STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30
degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.
Miss a dose
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose,
skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Precautions
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to irbesartan, candesartan,
telmisartan, eprosartan, or any other drugs. Tell your doctor if you have ever
had liver or kidney disease. This medicine can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Do
NOT drive, and restrict activities until you know how this medicine will affect
you. Consult your doctor before using salt substitutes that contain potassium.
Side effects
Although side effects from this medicine are not common, the following side
effects have been reported: headache, dizziness, cough, fatigue, upset stomach,
diarrhea.
Notes
DO NOT share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT
use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this product out of the
reach of children. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain
refills before your supply runs out.
